Re: RCLogger
Awesome Greg! I must have missed this thread, because this is the first I've seen of it! Really looking forward to seeing the progress on this dozer. I was thinking about trying my hand at building something with tracks. Anything with tracks, but I don't have a clue where to start. Been looking at roller chain and K-1 adapters for pad mounts. I think you have answered most of my questions there. I'm curious though, what you might suggest for idler wheels and bearings, if not bushings? Do you make all your own parts? What sort of tools and equipment do you have? I'm guessing you've got a lathe and mill somewhere in your shop. I really need my own mill! It would really help me on any project I tackle.

I seem to build equipment strong enough as I don't ever have break downs. but if something does break it is nice that I don't have to wait for parts like some folks are having.. |

Re: RCLogger
Was at Greg's this afternoon for a preview. Seeing this model up close is amazing. This model is going to be a power house and a great runner. He's really mastered the art of fabricating models.

I think you mentioned using air cylinders from McMaster for this and other projects...they hold up pretty good? I think I like the looks of those better than Clippards. Keep thinking I need to do something to turn down the square ends on the Clippards. Joe |

Re: RCLogger
Thanks Fred and Ed
I must say that the high track works very well. Mine has never plugged up with dirt as the sprocket is high and dry.. Usually by the time the chain makes its way to the sprocket most of the dirt has fallen off.. greg |

Re: RCLogger
Sure looks like you could drag that through a lot of rock. How;d the bees wax work. Maybe you still need less teeth on the blade.

Re: RCLogger
You used a scroll saw to cut that tooth out Greg?
And it looks like your tip is replaceable too? |

Re: RCLogger
Joe I used the band saw to cut it out, just takes a little more time and patience than I have. The tip is replaceable, I milled out the back and used the split pins to hold it in place.
