Hey guys, I Just finish some modify on my Tamiya truck gearbox, belt driven to lower the center of gravity, and change 1st gear into reverse. To make the truck more like the real one. But after that I realized that it will be better if I put one-way bearing in the belt wheel to let it run more like an engine.
The reason I add reverse is I will design disck brake on my Cascadia truck, and the brake servo connect the same channel with ESC, so I can't let the motor spin reversely. The final sloution, reverse gear. I'm in China, I'm not sure if you can read the picture in the attachment. |

Interesting conversion and nicely executed. Never having build a Tamiya kit, I didn't know the Tamiya box didn't have reverse gear and that you had to switch the polarity on the motor.
Where are you planning to install the disk brake? Can see the pics when I click on the little blue square. Thanks for posting!

not sure i understand the purpose. slick engineering and all, but since most speed controls are reversing, and that's the way the radio works, why not just let the motor spin backwards? it's not going to hurt it any.

Can you post a few more photos of your reverse gear and how you have it working. Thanks

Great work! Love the idea. Using brakes is very good idea, as when you drive downhill or uphil with a loaded truck, its hard to keep it safe.
