Default Question About Shapeways "Goose" Peterbilt Parts

This hood says it is for Tamiya cab, will not fit TrueScale Pete cab.

I see a Truescale Pete daycab listed but no hood to fit it....what's going on here? Can you buy a whole Peterbilt body, hood, cab, fenders and sleeper from Goose that will all fit together?

Any thoughts?

Thanks. Has anybody used a cab from them? Would rather not use a King Hauler cab.

i think there is to much grain to smooth and fill
that you will lose the detsils in the cab

Micro mark has some kind of coating you can put on 3D printed parts to smooth all the graininess and its paintable. Not sure how well it works, but could be worth a shot.

I got my parts the other day. I'm happy with them but there are two sorta big drawbacks. One they defiantly have a grainy feel to them and the other is the top of the hood is smooth, no classic Peterbilt ridge.

I know the grain comes with 3D printing but still a bummer.

I tried printing 1/14 bodys but still didnt try to paint them. I've been told that paint covers all the grain on the surface. I hope I will try soon. I think if it covers the grain, it would fill all the detail lines also.

Depending on material used to print parts there are several ways to smooth out things. Been tinkering since January with my own 3d printer and starting to have good results.

Body work is not in my wheelhouse, I suck at it. But.....I was thinking if a man wanted to He could buy some Evergreen half round styrene and make a rib out of a few strips. Witchy think?

I used some "board & batten" used for model rail road buildings as the ribs on my KH hood. Should be able to get it at any hobby shop. Forget the size and I can get you some pics if you would like when I get home from the cabin on Sunday. It works good if you are going for the Peterbilt 359 look.

That sounds great and I would love to see some photos if you don't mind! Thank you.

I'm in the process of making my King Hauler look a bit more like a Pete 359. I pretty much just plan to replace the grill/headlights, but am also considering replacing the fenders. I know nothing about these fenders, but are these designed to bolt to the cab of the KH cab after the stock fenders are cut away? Any feedback on these would be much appreciated!

The fenders are really meant to bolt to their Pete hood. The stock King Hauler hood can be cut off with one straight cut then the Shapeways hood either be glued on or some guys have made a custom hood hinge. That being said anything is possible, you might be able to cut your King Hauler off at the rivet line, make new hood sides and bolt these fenders where you want them.
