Default 1:16 GMC Flatbed RC Driveline

I recently found a Highway 61, 1:16 GMC flatbed and am looking at making it RC. Have the differential figured out, steering, no problem, but am considering a 2-speed transmission.

I've looked at a lot of options, but need some guidance. What is the smallest 2-speed trans that can handle a 540 motor?
OR
I know some the the semi's run single speed. So is that a viable option? Disadvantages?

Space is at a premium on this model. Have considered a 390 or 280 motor to get even smaller. Anyone have experience with these smaller motors? Will they be able to handle this truck okay?

Thanks!

Ken

WTBCAR offers a 2 speed planetary xmish. It's only slightly larger then the diameter of the motor.
