Default Peterbilt 281

Hello all,

i have started to build an american style truck and it can only be an Oldtimer. Therefore i have choiced a truck from the 50ies, Peterbilt 281, the same i have watched in the movie Duel.

Components are 2 old driven axles from Wedico, front axle from Robbe and gearbox from Veroma. The other parts will be selfmade.

You are off to a great start, Wolfgang! Making everything out of aluminum is quite ambitious, but I like that you are doing things that way.

Hello all,

to rise the cab, on both sides and able to open. This is a perfect place for switching battery or charging socket.

I have used lumber strapping but never thought to use that! My aunt and uncle have a landscaping business...I guess I will be asking them to keep their broken lawn rakes for me!

Thanks for the great idea and for sharing pics of your progress!

Hello all,

the other side of the stairs, i must build the part a Little more widther, because at the 1955 Pete they are the same width as the fenders. There are a lot of differences between the original 1955 model and the existing 1960 Pete.

Hello all,

i have found a pic and i think this must be from the real truck (damaged at the end of movie), in difference to the survived truck, the stairs has the same width like the fenders and the upper side of the frame behind the cab is closed
