Default Kits for dump trucks

Hi,

I wanted to try and build a dump truck from a Tamiya kit - but what kit is the best kit to get to make into a dump truck?

Also does anyone sell a dump conversion kit for Tamiya trucks? As i would rather follow a kit rather than attempt to make bits myself.

Or if anyone knows of a dump truck for sale let me know.

Thanks

Also what Euro looking Tamiya kits are best for adding a dump?

Thanks Travis,

Did you make all the parts for the dump yourself?

I dont have the skills/tools to do things like that myself so i was hoping there was a conversion kit.

I was looking at getting the Tamiya Scania R620 Highline 6x4 to convert.

Carson offers a scissor dump mech but it does require some mod to the truck frame to get it to fit. As for a dump body right now the only one available is from PMD gardentrucking.com but it is not hard to make one as most of mine are made of styrene and you don't need special tools for that.

Thanks Fuzzy.

Also when i need to run a second motor eg for the Carson tipper how do i do it?

Ive always had just one ESC, and they all have to be connected to a battery so how can i run two off the same battery and receiver?

Thanks

Sadly the best dump beds were produced by our fallen hero FGD. Surely a sensitive topic, but I myself hope one of our fine vendors will be able to produce those same beds in his honor. I personally think Izzy could do them great justice. I know I had plans to build at least a couple more dumps with Freddy's beds.

I built a King Hauler Dump. Bought the kit at PMD (gardentrucking.com). Here is a link:

Comes with everything you need.

On the Carson lift units.
The one used in their trailers (sold by Rick at PMD among others) is too wide out of the box to fit between Tamiya frame rails. It CAN be made to fit, I did it on my first King Hauler conversion as well as my dump trailer, but it takes a lathe and machining skills and a lot of modification.
A better option is to use a very similar looking scissors unit sold by a Chinese company (got mine from Semi Joe) and power it with the Carson gear motor. I used this combo on my newest Tamiya conversion and it works great with the scissors unit fitting perfectly in the Tamiya frame. Everything fit and cleared the stock driveline.
