Recieved a PM that asked if a 2250 loads itself out like a 238. It probably could if you had 400 acres to do it in and alot of time. Everytime we have ever moved one we have used an assist crane for at least the boom. When they don't have an assist crane they do use they crane itself to load the tracks and counter weights itself.

What's the avg cost to disassemble, move & re-assemble a crane like this? How many ppl & trks/trls involved?

On cost, I have no idea from the Crane comapny's stand point but from the trucker it all depends on where the crane is at and how far the travel is for its next job. It gets real expensive when the load out/in area is very small/tight for trucks to get around in. Then you end up using trucks/trailers speced for maneuverability to shuttle all of the loads out to an area that allows you to unload and reload onto trucks/trailers that are capable of legally and safely carrying the loads to the destination. I think the smallest crawler with the fewest loads we move is a Linkbelt 218 which consist of one 9 axle lowboy (in CA.) and 2 step decks. The largest cranes we have moved have been upwards of 60 loads. An example would be the Manitowoc 18000, but it all depends on what configuration it is being set up in for how heavy a pick it is going to make.

Manitowoc, sure impressed me when they brought the new 21000 crane to Vegas a few year's back. If I remember correctly, it took 105 truck load's. I can't wait to see what they bring this year to ConExpo/ConAg show in March. I hope the new 31000 makes it's debut! Yes I'm planning on taking alot of picture's.
Thank's for sharing the picture's, I see interesting trailer configuration's in your fleet! Something new to me all the time! Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug.
