Default Brushless motor worth it?

I am currently running an 80T brushed motor (RC4WD) in my truck. It pulls fine, I don't carry heavy loads, just a trailer with some reasonable stuff.
Trying to see if I can get longer battery life and also smoother startup - currenty when I ease on the throttle the truck jerks a tiny bit, which is annoying. Perhaps on a sensor-ed brushless it won't do that?

Is it worth it to install burshless motor? Will I get longer battery life?
Also are there brushless motors that would give comparable torque to an 80T brushed motor? I'd rather not install gear reducer unit as I don't use one now.

Sounds like you need a better esc for smoother starts, what I've used in the past is Mtronics 15A Marine esc, really smooth start/stop with brake.

Using brushless... to find anything that will fit & still have a low KV rating probably doesn't exist without a speed reducer to get the rpm down... that 80 turn motor you have is a 12v motor that you're running on 8.4v, I'd guess it's spinning at 6000rpm - maybe less. Those Integy high turn motors are a direct fit to the 3spd trans, to do anything different will definitely add length & probably require adapters to mount as well.

Brushless motors are GREAT for speed & light weight stuff. Not so great for slow speeds stuff like the big trucks.

The radio settings are important too. A good radio will have settings for low speed/start curve EPA settings I think it's called.
