Default Noobie from SE Gippsland

G'day. Doonie here. I have a few trucks, some WPL stuff, and am currently working on a King Kong CA10 dually. The WPL's were great to dip my toe in the water. Transmissions not too good but upgradeable so I learned a lot. They are also good to learn about painting and detailing. The CA10 is from a whole nuther world though and quite a good challenge to make a good job of it. It has piqued my interest in the next level which I consider to be semi-trailer combinations.
I realise that these things are money pits and am prepared for that but I still want to join the Aussie truck building community and am seeking opinions on what would be the best kit to base my build around. I like older trucks from the forties and fifties but have not seen any built. Are there any here in this group?

Welcome, it'd be cool to see some of your wpl stuff and progress on the CA10.

Maybe something like a kingkong rc CA30 with a 5th wheel instead of bed might work for you? (Studebaker us6 / Zil 150) 1940s
or they have a ZL-130 that's more 1950s.

I've seen some tamiya Kinghauler cabs back-dated to the 1930s.

There are some guys doing 3D printed bodies that are coming up with new stuff all the time. Bodies, wheels, accessories...

Although i don't believe i've seen anybody making the vintage looking trailers?

Also, i'm not quite sure what the older Aussie trucks looked like. Were they still set up similar to the Road-trains with a 'Roo bar?

Thanks for the reply. Here are a couple of links to two of the WPL trucks.

Work continues on the CA 10 but I will put up some links in the next couple of weeks. I am seriously considering the CA 30 with a Zil body and ten wheel drive and have approached King Kong to see what can be done.
I'm very pleased to have found this forum and hope to be a useful contributor in the future.

Neat idea! I like how you relocated the batteries, & electronics to make room for an engine under the hood

Hope this doesn't infringe any rules.
It's a progress report on the CA 10 cabin build.
Hope you like it.
