That thing is way cool Freddie. Where'd that cab come from...doesn't look like any Tamiya I've ever seen. Then again I don't know much. Joe

I agree! Looking good! And the lights, awesome Freddy! Lights are liking me too much right now. Neither brake light works on my trailer. Oh well, just send it to you, right? The FGD can fix anything! And, it's not that big of a loss, I don't use the brakes much! lol I'm joking, I brake every other second! Can't wait for more!

Hey Heavy Metal,
The cab is a Knight Hauler cab that has been modified by Freddy. He didn't attach the roof of the sleeper. I hope this answers your question!

Well,Glad to see there are some fellow builders that like my build.
There's a few guys on this forum that I chatt w/almost daily.
Yesterday while on the phone w/one of them,I asked him what he thought of my drom box. & his answer was,"Looks like shyt" Now I couldn't sleep last night cause of it.
Now,before I go & paint this thing,& mount it to the truck.I really need you boys to be honest & tell me if it looks like shyt??
Now don't worry about hurtin my feel'ins, they were shattered yesterday.
Thanks!

id say shorter (height), more square corners and you really need to find smaller hinges

Went back and looked at the 1:1 pics at beginning of your thread Freddy. She looks pretty **** good to me but since yer feelings are already hurt...I say you ought to do something with the hinges.

Them tamiya hinges are only good hidden from view. They are functional but look terrible. Dubro hinges have been done with some nice results. There are some brass ones that are real small too.

I have the right to remain silent. Anything I say can and will be used against me in the court of RC Truck and Construction with the honorable Freddygeardrive presiding.

Cool Re: Gaullee Pa,Always wanted a 9 spd Atlas movin truck

Hey Freddy...

First let me say that the cab and the car deck are AWESOME..

As for the Drom Box. I think that first the hinges have got to go. Many times these have more of a "T" hinge on them.

HERE is a "T" hinge that would work perfectly. You are looking at hinge #2.. I personally would file the arrow down so that then come to a smooth rounded point but that is up to you. The width is 11/32 and the length is 17/32 so they are perfect size.

Second I think it would look better if it were like the prototype and the drom box being the same height as the cab and the car deck over the drom as well.

The thing looks great. I'm watching this build.

~Mike~

Guys,Thanks for the input.Yea,I remember going through this w/the last set of hinges on another drom,& did I learn? Well, that's the last time I use those hinges.Plus there a pain to get.
Well, plated the frame & added a chrome strip to bottom of drom.

Since she's gunna sit for a month apart while paint sets. Figured I'de try to learn the trany shiftin.

I would of said what gear I'm in,but, didn''t want to sound like a fool when I get all confused on what's going on at the moment. Gotta get some miles under my belt w/this baby, before I act like I know what I'm doing.
Thanks for lookin!

Are you going to put the blue stripes on the truck to match the 1:1. If not I would paint the hinges so they would blend in. IMO.

Freddy -add some tight forms to the hinges so that the barrel is located external but the flanges are hidden
