Default What metal to use ?

I am looking into replacing some of the discoloured plastic chromed pieces on my King Hauler front and rear bumpers / front grille infact all the chromed pieces , what would you good people recomend stainless or aluminum ?

It depends upon what you have to make the parts with or if you are going to purchase the parts. Stainless and aluminum both polish up nicely but they have a slightly different color when polished. Aluminum will have a slight blue tint to it when highly polished. Aluminum is easier to machine but will require more maint. after polishing than stainless. Stainless will add more weight to the truck if you are needing more pulling power there is always that to consider also.

Now that puts the cat amongst the pigeons , not sure about the blue tint , the added weight of stainless had occurred to me so thought about getting the bulk milled out to lighten them , the front and rear bumpers I think might be best from stainless for strength but if I am going to replace them all its probably best to make them all from same material , to be honest my experience my knowledge of metal is very limited so not sure what will give the best finish allowing for filing and working. I havent done detailed metal work since high school some 24 years ago ! !
