I saw the name mentioned, so I looked it up: RCMIN /RCBRMIN.

Looked through their site, and noted their 8x8 axle combination as a possibility: ...

Re: 8x8 chassis under-guts... anyone tried this?

~wince~ Hate to be loading my own thread...

amusingparts123 on eBay has a 4-axle (8x8) axle set... but $495 & shipping is a chunk, and the setup from Integy is only $360 (if its do-able)...

Re: Integy axles for Tamiya semi's

Travis,

Thank you for a very enlightening posting on this new product.

Now, when I asked Integy more, I did get that they ~ARE~ manufactured overseas... so if we could contact the maker,...

Re: 8x8 chassis under-guts... anyone tried this?

Thanks Travis,

I wasn't gonna take the 4x4 forum guys word, and they tend to drive their trucks harder (on average) than we do, though we have a few exceptions, eh Joe?

Any chance you could...

Re: 8x8 chassis under-guts... anyone tried this?

Hokay... either I goofed or post got nuked for cause:

So here goes: I asked Integy about doing the axle 'part swap' and they said " It looks possible. "

To which I replied " You have the...

Re: Frame catwalk material.

For what its worth...

I'll take a pic of the mesh that I salvaged from a desktop tray in the local Dollar Store, for size reference. But for reference, the diamond mesh is 4 per inch wide, 6 per...

Arrow Re: Frame catwalk material.

I also found an eBay dealer...

He sells the pieces for automotive grillework, and I've asked him if he would cut the 6" x 36" pieces into two 6" x 18" sections to save on shipping cost for...

I found a site that had 9" x 10" (I think) sheets of perforated metal, with round holes, square ones, and even hex patterning... and then I ~stupidly dinna mark the damned thing...

Re: Replacement parts for Carson STN-L3 trailer...

WHOA... Kudos and Brownie points for Tamiya USA. :bounce:

I'd mention a name, but there is none, just 'Tamiya Customer Service'

They asked me for a picture of the parts I needed, and I sent...

Exclamation Re: Replacement parts for Carson STN-L3 trailer...

Gah, hate those almost-hibernation sessions...

I'd like to publically thank Ric at PMD/GardenTrucking for his reply, but using his $455 & #455a suspension pieces would be costly (about $60 for 3...

Re: Replacement parts for Carson STN-L3 trailer...

I just saw the smaller PQ-12 units, 20mm throw (even has limit-switches!) at $65 - they might do the trick.

Then I thought, mount 'em vertically, and you have remote Trailer legs! Not cheap...

Re: Replacement parts for Carson STN-L3 trailer...

Hmmm,

Electric linear actuators. Interesting idea, but two problems: speed of actuation, and throw. Speed is fixed unless you use one of the delay-boards, and throw is ~fixed~.

Firgelli makes...

Re: Carson Goldhofer Low loader

Other ~stupid~ flaws in the Carson:

The u-bolts for attachment of the axles to the suspension 'leaves' are made of plastic. Start the supplied metal nuts on one, and *SNAP* goes the plastic...

8x8 chassis under-guts... anyone tried this?

Hey...

I was pointed at the Integy site with that nice ladder-chassis, and then thought about their semi axles... and the way they have the bolt-on tranny-caps.

Looking at them, I thought one...

Re: WTF HAPPENED !!!

*Sigh*

Seen this all-so-often when using brake fluid... stuff has petroleum by-prods, and they can attack the plastic.

Me, I use 'Easy Off' oven cleaner, in the pump bottle, not the aerosol....

Re: Frame catwalk material.

Guys...

I found the generic equivalent: its medical bracing/splint material. I got a 12" x 3.75" section for $2.10, locally (rolled gently). If that's enough width/length-wise, its a good buy. But...

Re: Replacement parts for Carson STN-L3 trailer...

Thanks Paul...

I could send one of my pair of rectangular 'saddle' pieces so you could make 'em, then you'd have 'em if anyone else wants to replace 'em#

As for measurements: (referencing...

Replacement parts for Carson STN-L3 trailer...

Hokay guys...

Any of you Carson STN-L3 owners know that the plastic u-bolts for attaching the axles to the suspension arms are crap, right? Well, silly woofie went to go replace 'em with 2-56,...

Re: Trucks from the movies

I've got a ~reverse~ mention of a truck here...

Why? Its a model of a Semi used in a movie. Punisher (1989) w/ Dolph Lundgren. He uses it to deliver a bottle of booze to his source, 'Shake'.

As...

Re: My attempt at an air boat.

Travis:

If you don't want to use something as complicated as fibreglass, you might consider another option as equally strong and waterproof: epoxy.

I use Hoby-Poxy 2-part stuff, 45 min. set,...

Re: slipping rubber tracks?

Cossie:

Option #1 : some heat-shrink tubing, carefully applied, then roughened with sandpaper.

Option #2 : some of that anti-skip floor tape (looks like black emery-paper tape)

Option #3 :...
