Re: The start of an MMRS Demonstrator

Great start. Seeing it falling off a shelf must have hurt. I'm terrified of that happening to mine.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Rainbow colored ribbon cables help with keeping it under control, but sometimes it's just easier to change the Arduino program to match the connections ;) . I'll post the full wiring diagrams when...

Re: Need some advice on tires/wheels

That looks very good!
For reference, I'm using these in both 22mm and 30mm wide versions on my fire truck, with the included foams and Tamiya 1/14 truck rims. They have no problem carrying about 12...

Frsky Q X7 trickery: Using trim tabs as momentary switches and other tricks

I'm in the process of working out how to set up my Frsky Q X7 to best control all the functions on my fire truck. I'll update this thread if I figure out something useful, so I remember them later.

Re: Need some advice on tires/wheels

I don't know specifics about what would be suitable for 1/12 construction equipment, but page 20 here shows how Tamiya does dual rear wheels.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Doing my best. Fortunately, most of the flaws don't show up well in the photos ;)

Hit a roablock for a few days. I had so much lovely articulation in the rear, but never thought to check with...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

I couldn't take it anymore. A bit of sanding, gray primer + the rest of a decade old can of Tamiya flat black, then white primer and resprayed the whole thing with yellow. No more light bleed, but I...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

The chassis looks good in black.
Motip etch primer + Motip high gloss black.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

I've tried to make as much as possible in separate parts so I don't have to do a lot of precision masking.

Re: most realistic radio operation for semi?

I think switching the function of one stick axis between throttle and brake would allow for some unpleasant accidents depending on where the stick is when you switch. It might be safer to use up/down...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

The weather has really been perfect for painting this week, except for the pollen and other stuff in the air.

Very happy with how the RM60 roof monitor turned out in yellow.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

A logo would look good. There's going to be some boxes and ladders up there, so it should hopefully be able to blend in.

Glued the side panels on the tank module.
I had tried fixing some issues...

The Frsky radios run the OpenTX operating system, so you can go to the following link to download OpenTX companion to simulate and test the programming options of the radios....

Finishing up the rear fenders. Side marker light should hopefully work with a 3mm LED, no fiber optics.

Re: Recommendation on TX system for a crane

A 3D stick can rotate in addition to up/down/left/right. They often have a button on top as well. There is a thread somewhere about someone who added them to an frsky radio, but I can't find it at...

Re: Recommendation on TX system for a crane

I'm a fan of my frsky Taranis radio. If money was no object I'd probably have gone with an frsky horus for extra scripting options. Fun radios to program, especially if you're already including...

Re: MB Heavy Haul

Thanks for this warning. I'm surprised that axles that cost as much as a Tamiya kit don't come fully equipped with ball bearings.

Re: VW Type 2 Split-window Double cab

Nice! Is the lifting servo operated?

Have you found a way to protect the mirror finish of the liquid chrome? As soon as I touch it with a finger it looks like normal silver paint.

Re: illuminated dashboard

Nice tutorial. I've already made the shadow box and LEDs, but fortunately haven't finished it, so I'll definitely try using that acrylic plate idea for the instruments.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Thank you!

Started a very simple roof liner. Holes for interior dome lights and mounted using the same magnet setup that holds the roof platform.
