yes you need a servonaut sound module... and the gear change sound is only available on the M20+(fwd/rev only) and the K40(1/2/3/rev)!
Not sure what additional data they send down but it would be...

You could try using a three position switch for the mixing the sound:
Pos1 - sound off
Pos2 - pump speed drives sound channel
Pos3 - knob drives sound channel

Yep servonaut Infrared gear in the truck(AIR4), dolly(AMO & AIR4) and trailer(AMO).
For lights and steering. I do want to use it for the gooseneck too(another channel sourced from the AIR), but...

I suggest starting simple, make sure you can switch the pump on and off with the battle switch or similar.
Then start working with a mix, for one channel, then add the others on top.
