Talking Twin Screw FH12 "Aussy Over Haule"

Here is a truck my oldest son built him self 5 years ago. He saved up his own money and bought the stock signal axle kit and then saved up again to get the twin screw running gear and 4 fenders. I helped him make new frame rails and stretch it and he did the rest he even made the dorm bed on it too with plastic square tubing and pine wood floor.. I am now the owner of these truck as he wanted a Xbox more than the semi so I am holding it for him for now..

Well as of 2 years ago I became the new owner of my sons FH12 seams he wanted a XBox more than his truck but I think he got the better deal cause he drives any of the trucks when ever he wants anyways. But since it is mine I can do what ever I want and I want to to be a Aussy styled rig so that is what I am working towards..

So I got a big old cow killer for it and made a stone guard for the wind screen yesterday also put guards over the head lamps.

Not sure what color to paint the lamp guards or the stone guard? Ideas?

also I have found some great looking EBH scale wheels for it with wide fronts and I am also looking to have some large rectangle fuel tanks for it and lose the side skirts. Also I have some spot lamps coming for the guard and the roof I am just trying to find something to go behind the cab??

I would fit a work light on the back of the sleeper to help when backing up to trailers and of course several CB/Radio aerials on the mirrors and cab. I would also look into getting a better air filter snorkel.
But Paul I know what ever you do it will be a good looking VOLVO

Thanks much Chris you have hit on many of the items in plan of doing or changing. i have new pipe for the stacks to make them longer and do turn outs I think I have made whips for the mirrors. I have 8 spot lights coming for the truck couple for the bull guard and might do some on the roof and I was planing on doing 2 on the back of the cab I have got to keep the droam deck as my son built it I am very partial to it I would like to do some air cleaners and snorkels but would it be better if I got rid of the upper air dam and put one next to each stack??

I also plan on losing the side skirts and going with rectangle tanks on it..

let me know what you think on the snorkels.

Sweet Rig TC. Where did you get the mesh / perforated material for the light covers and insect screen?

I like the bullbar.
The old FH12 used to have one big exhaust on the drivers side.
I´d go with Chris ideas. A couple of spotties on the bullbar is more than enough.
Even the new models still got a box for the battery on the back behind the cab. Might be another little extra.
If you get rid of the side skirts you should shorten the frame that is waaaaay to long for a prime mover
Low roof might be another option.

Thanks for the input guys.. I have been held up as I have been looking for rectangle longer tanks I could get and remove the side skirts and put the tanks on. I also have been trying to find wheels with the right look.. I know alot of Aussy truck run 5 or 6 spoke wheels but I cant find any picks of FH12's running them style wheels..

I plan on losing the upper air dam and running twin air breathers on the roof top.

On the wheels, I think the older g88 did, and the F12 may have run the spiders, but the newer FH12, I am not so sure of...

FH12 on spiders are rather rare but still around.

one

two

Square fuel tanks are more common nowadays. I´d go with two round ones.

For the breathers you might want to use some real aussie intakes, elbows, t´s and straight connectors

quad dog I'm really leaning towards the spider wheels in round tanks for sure I really like to look at that blue truck that you posted. I want to keep the truck the color that it is even though it doesn't pop like the blue one does maybe some sort of Strip to set it off. can you tell me where to get that an air cleaner parts you just posted that is exactly what I'm looking for

I made them for future projects

They are supposed to go on to a 14mm pipe and go on the back of a cabover like the Tamiya Volvo, or the Tamiya Scania... So if you want to put them on your roof you should go with the smaller size of 12mm I've made as well. The small size would fit perfectly to the intake of a conventional truck like the king hauler (one on each side of the bonnet). They look pretty much the same but with slightly different dimensions. Only problem is that I havn´t got elbows ready yet. Using the straight connectors, elbows, and a pipe you can put them wherever you want.
