Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Thanks for the comments guys....I will post more pics once I set up something on Photobucket or image shack...I don't want to waste any more space on here with pics...I just got on a roll posting and didn't realized how many pics I posted.. (OOPS SORRY!!)
Which of the two free photo sites is better?? Or are they both just as good or just as bad?? |

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Hey i like that haul truck, I use a waterjet at my work and I use the plywood technique on some of my projects. I have built a couple of excavators with it.
Nice job |

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Glad to see someone else that has some experience with waterjet cutting, they are very useful and versatile machines...funny why more guys on here don't get parts cut on a waterjet or lazer...or maybe half the fun and challenge is in cutting the parts by hand at home. Or is it hard to find a shop that wants to do small jobs.........

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Well a great intro to your projects thus far Kordell.
I've been using photobucket for yrs & the last 2yrs been a subscriber for less than $20/yr. It usually works flawless for me, but it's the only one I've ever used. I saw your link to the comparison sites, pretty much any one of them will suffice. I see waterjet getting to be more common place all the time b/c more modellers are building the model core with steel instead of aluminum for greater weight, easier to weld together, less wear, less fatigue, ect.

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Thanks Joe
I will most likely go with photobucket , seems to be the most used on here.... This is a good site to learn about waterjet cutting http://www.waterjets.org/ Here is something else that might also interest builders...small plasma tables http://torchmate.com/products/growth_series_4x4/ |

The plywood profiles are very handy...and easy to cut on the table...it also helps keep my kids from asking me when they can see something other than a drawing...LOL... |

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
First try using this type of steering control ( this one did not work needed some changes )
Used a Hitec 785 winch servo ( 3.5 turns) and a 12T sprocket ( servo city) http://www.servocity.com/html/32p_hitec_metal_gear.html [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Needed to get this thing on all fours...or should I say six....
Cut the bearing hubs off the cheap rims that came with the tires , then made simple front hubs for testing this thing out...after welding they got faced off , drilled and reamed for some bushing. I hope to make some better front hubs with ball bearings later on (but most likely I will use these for a long time..LOL) [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Steering design...take 2....
Really wanted to have this all in the body and not under the truck but for now it will work...don't even know how or if this idea will work, needed to do something to test it all out.....(hopefully it will have enough torque for this heavy model) [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

Looking Good, If you decide to swap out the rear axle, this an idea to take a gander at.

Re: 777 HAUL TRUCK (1/12 size)
Looking good man! I can see that it won't be long now and it will be running! I also know from experience that it sucks to have a truck without a loader so something tells me that the loader will be started pretty soon!
That's a good find Neil. I've never seen one that is that small. Too bad there isn't a place like that in Canada to buy from. |
