when i did work on the 1:1 we would use a rasp file. it makes it smooth and you can shape with it. you have to cut a little big cause it takes it off fast.

I use a 4.5 " angle grinder w/flap disk on occasion I'll use a file then sand with wet dri up to 1500 if polishing and 220 for painting .
