here is a picture showing one of the cracked wheels along side a good one
when I get the new wheels I am going to fill the gap around the bearing housing with epoxy resin to make them stronger, why did tamiya make them this way when they would have been better making them as one solid disc without the gap in them ![]() |

That was the engineers trying to save on materials cost
![]() If you can find a bras tube the correct size, cut small rings to fit over them. The other option would be to cast new wheels from aluminite. |

I've used plastic compatible grease in ALL my bearings for my Pershing (and all other tanks) since 2006 and have experienced no problems at all, even after a few IR battle too so the resin might be an overkill. A messy one at that.

From your pic, I would say you have bearings with the wrong type of grease. Yours look exactly like what I saw happening with the wrong grease. Lack of a solid roadwheel is exactly what Car5858 said. Engineers trying to save money.
