Welcome to a GREAT hobby. The first item you should think about is some sort of gear reduction unit to slow down the stock truck. Whether it is after the tranny or between the motor and tranny is your choice. If you have watched any of the demolition derby videos, these trucks do not have GRUs in them. The GRU makes the trucks easier to drive and safer for both you and the other trucks.

thank you all for the welcoming...... i'm looking forward to my first build, even though it will be mostly a stock truck out of a box, it's my first and cant wait to get started.. i will post pics of my progress... but this is all new to me, and i'm still learning how to post messages and reply's its a little confusing at first thanks again......... james
