14v lipo is 4s, correct? which is 16.8v @full charge.

With the space savings of no more motor/trans combo, maybe you could fit a 4s lipo & a 10cell NiMH?

It might help to put an esc on your hyd pump so it's not running all the time, cutting in on the current flow.

It sounds like your motor choice is laboring quite hard, more reduction is what's needed. How hot or warm does the esc get after a minute or two of run time?

Are you thinking of two power supplies?
I have a BMA on the pump already, so the pump only runs when required.
The unit still has the standard Wedico electrics as supplied, so I will need to dig them out and try it again, then test for the temp
