Re: JBC limited NZ
I had the beier sound card sitting on desk for a while and I want to get the hydraulic fluid sound thing happening when the rams move and also a few more realistic sounds happening.
also, I stole the sound card out of the excavator for my KH dump truck build. I need to spend a bit of time trying to work out how Im going to do it , but I have a plan... just need to find the time. cheers andy |

Step up the excavator soon to be followed by the loader. not sure how I will plant the produce in the ground but at least I've made a start. a quick video so far https://youtu.be/UR8AO0sguqI |

Re: JBC limited NZ
made a few changes to the dozer, fitted some aluminium track runners to stop the tracks coming off.
not quite right as you can hear the pop rivets holding the track pads hitting the runners. out with the grinder tomorrow. heres a quick vege garden video https://youtu.be/A6SouJ-90hE |

Re: JBC limited NZ
summer is on its way, found a possible track to run the semis on.
problem is that it is at serious altitude, with a 6 - 10 foot drop [roll to the bottom] . which wouldn't be good for the trucks. got the excavator in to make a start on the road but will need the dozer and a water cannon to clear most of the really hard dirt before I can start to make a driveable road . just happen to have a Polaris ranger, a generator and water pump , so that part is going to be easy. almost lost the excavator a couple of times but the camera must have stopped..... like my heart. here's a short movie of what Im up against https://youtu.be/5AehQHE-npM |

Re: JBC limited NZ
yes a plan is always good, but sometimes it changes... LOL
plan changed a little , needed to make some room for the new esc,s much bigger and complete with fans. so hashed up something that will do the job. heres the new 2mm engine cover radiator cover almost there will print up some doors and handles to give it a little more detail once the paint has dried properly . cheers andy |

Re: JBC limited NZ
made a start on another project that has been sitting in the shed for a while now, the mighty KAT excavator.....
I know its lightly built and basically rubbish, but I think I can make it a little better than when it arrived. The base was slightly bent and a little wobbly, just too lightly built. a $80 purchase of a 3mm thick steel half sheet and the job begins Im going to use the same set up as in the rc4wd excavator as I have all the parts already. I have ordered 3 large ecs,s for the tracks and turntable , now its just a matter of making it all fit inside. I used the original base plate as a template for the top half and reproduced all the other panels and welded them together to give it some more rigidity wasn't happy with how the way the main boom rams were fitted , so added an extra mounting point to stop any possible twisting. need to sort a few panel gaps , also instead of a counter weight at the back I may make a built in oil tank to save a bit of room for the electrics. a new bucket and quick release is also in order as is rebuilding the track set up. but first mission is to get it digging for the summer and the youngest will be happy. basically I think I will be using the KAT as a template to build a whole new excavator. |

Re: JBC limited NZ
So as it turns out the KAT is only good for a template..
made up a new set of booms out of 3mm sheet and welded them up. I have predrilled the pivot points but will make up some brass bushes and stainless shafts. This isn't turning out to be a ten minute job. a little CAT code paint make it look better add one new boom set up and a new steel bucket. and the 4200's new look cheers andy |

Re: JBC limited NZ
Looking good Andy. Always nice to have a second digger. I really like the 4200 upgrades. The cat walks is a nice touch. Tracks look a little loose though?

Re: JBC limited NZ
I can't remember, do you have an interior in the 4200? And have you seen this? I just discovered a few days ago..

cheers Mario,
yes the track tensioners need looking at, hopefully just full of dirt I have seen that interior and at 89 pounds , nearly $250 kiwi that wont happen anytime soon the cab on the 4200 is a cheap ebay special, quite a bit smaller than the standard but it came with a complete interior. cheers andy |

Re: JBC limited NZ
Looks good Andy, and keep those outside pics and videos coming, you are heading into summer and I'm watching the leaves drop for winter. So it will be nice to see some sun and green with your equipment working

Re: JBC limited NZ
still waiting on paint to dry on the arms, so I used up the original decal sheet that came with the excavator.
Young fella likes it so that will do me. crammed the esc's into the front of the excavator , mounted pump and valves. still have a little room to play with but will have to make a new tank as its slightly too high and cant close engine cover. I also sprayed the tracks with a light coat of a scoria colour to try and get a rusty look..... dosent look too bad. cheers andy |

Re: JBC limited NZ
wow Andy, the new digger is looking good. Is it just me or is the upper structure much longer than a 4200? Ouch! I forgot about the exchange rate and I think you have a much better alternative for the interior.
Wondering how the crusher project is going btw? Haven't seen much on it lately. |

Re: JBC limited NZ
hi Mario,
Side by side the two excavators are almost the same length in the upper structure, did toy with the idea of adding 50mm to the 4200 but it was getting too hard and couldn't be bothered. It may happen at a later date. the crusher is still not running, I have the attention span of a house fly and am never happy unless I have too many projects on the go at the same time. cheers andy |

Re: JBC limited NZ
more brilliant NZ weather , so I spent some time in the shed.
walkways, exhaust , air filter and all hydraulic lines done. All joints bushed and sleeved. Also made up a mechanical thumb. This still needs some clean up work and painting. when the thumb is down it has a latch that holds it in place, which I want to revisit as its a little rough. cheers andy |
