The FIRST logging truck that was assigned to me. It was a 73 model A Kenworth, equipped with a Cummings Big Cam400, & it had been updated from the 4 & 5 boxes to a Eaton Fuller 13 speed before I got into it.

After the first company went out of business,
I went to work for a different log trucking company. I drove their truck for 3 years. This was the second log truck I was assignedIt was equiped with Eaton Fuller 18 speed transmission, Cat 3406E at 500HP, engine brake, AND a retarder too. I LOVED the jake coupled with that retarder. I rarely, if ever maybe only a couple of times a day had to touch the brakes coming out of the woods. It didn't matter how steep the terrain was, this thing held back really good. It held so good, I'd go out the short way, that nobody else would go, for fear of burning up their brakes. they DIDN'T have retarders on their trucks ![]() Mt. Somewhere I've got more. Those are the interesting ones. No matter where we seemed to work at, if there was a soft spot, I have a knack to find it. I'll be the one that gets stuck in that spot! I'll have to try & find those pics. They're ALL of various dump trucks that I ran over the years.

Not stuck, but I thought it was a neat pic. we're driving in/out the storm water retention pond we built for a new housing development.
unnamed by Anthony Kalnoski, on FlickrNot stuck in the conventional sense but kind of stuck.....LOL! I was loading myself with this when this fiasco happens. It broke where the axle had previously been welded. The company was too cheap to replace the axle with a new one. Instead they welded it together, & placed the machine back into service. It lasted a few months, before it broke again. They repaired it AGAIN, & sent it to auction. unnamed (4) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr unnamed (5) by Anthony Kalnoski, on FlickrThis one's stuck real good. I was relieving the operator so he ould get a break. I was told just keep throwing the dirt out to where the other machine can reach it. It took a Cat 400 excavator the better part of half a day to dig this out. unnamed (6) by Anthony Kalnoski, on FlickrHere's one of the lease truck, same one that has the load spilling over the sideboards in the previous post. I was told to back into the fill site, & stay as close to my right hand side as I could, as that's where they wanted me to dump at. unnamed (2) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr unnamed (1) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr unnamed (3) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

As promised some more 1:1 stuck in the mud pics
This one, the fill site I was running to was 2 hours away from the nearest source of help. We had a D6 dozer on site, but the d@m battery in it was dead! I had to make the call for the mechanic to come help me. I was backing in, & felt the front end sinking into the mud. Knowing I was the ONLY driver hauling into this fill site, I stepped on the throttle, & got the front end outta the sinking part. When I let off the throttle, & began to stop backing, the rear tires sank. unnamed (9) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr unnamed (10) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr unnamed (7) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr unnamed (8) by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

Here's one of my co-workers, he eventually took over my truck when I left. He's standing next to a cedar log that's 75 inches wide. 75 inches, that's 6 FEET, 3 INCHES wide. That thing is wider then I am tall!
